The routine number-crunching — pulling sales reports, spotting basic trends, and drafting performance summaries — will increasingly be done by BI tools and scripts, so you'll spend less time formatting data and more time deciding what to do with it. What stays are the judgment calls: choosing which market signal to chase, tailoring a sales script for a specific team, and reading whether a campaign flop is really about price or about timing. Your day-to-day shifts from assembling slides to testing a hunch, talking with the team, and vetoing a plan that looks good on paper but feels wrong in the field.

How to become a sales analyst
You can become a sales analyst without a degree — what matters is the ability to work with data. The key skills are Excel, SQL, visualisation in Power BI or Tableau, and an understanding of business metrics. Most people pick these up through courses and practice.
1. Short courses and certificates
The quickest route. Data-analysis courses and certificates (Google Data Analytics, Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst, Tableau), together with Excel and SQL, prepare you for a junior post in a few months without a degree.
2. Internship or graduate scheme
An internship or junior analyst post in a sales team gives real practice with company data. Many people start as a sales assistant or coordinator and move into analysis once they understand the process from the inside.
3. University degree
A degree in economics, marketing, statistics, or business analytics gives a deeper understanding of the market and of analysis methods. It is not required to start but is useful for growth into senior and lead roles.
The fastest route is a data-analysis course plus an internship or junior post. No licence is required; a portfolio of real dashboards and confident SQL and Power BI are what's valued. From there a career grows to senior analyst and team lead.
