You can train for this quickly — no degree needed. The job is directing and controlling vehicle movement at junctions and on sites to keep traffic safe and flowing. On a construction or works site you'll need a CSCS card, and traffic marshal/banksman training is the standard short course.

A short traffic marshal or banksman course is the quickest way in. Over a few days it covers signalling, safe vehicle movement, and working in live traffic, getting you ready to start on site fast.
2. Accredited training
Accredited traffic management training (for example through CITB-recognised providers) goes into more detail on site safety and traffic control. It's more thorough than a basic course and can carry a recognised certificate.
3. On-the-job training
Many sites take on marshals and train them in practice under experienced supervisors. It's a great way to gain real experience in live traffic conditions and build the judgement the job demands.
