How to become a grinder

You can become a grinding/milling operative quickly — no degree is needed, just a good standard of basic education. Employers take people on with no experience and train them on the machines and on checking raw-material quality. To work with food raw materials such as flour or grain you'll need a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate.

The fastest route is to join a mill or processing plant with no experience and learn the job on site within a few days. Courses aren't essential, but for food production a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is a must. Skill grows with practice.
