Hver er dýralæknir

Vinnutími og skilyrði

Dýralæknir vinnur jafnan 8 stundir á dag, fimm daga vikunnar. Vinnan fer fram í læknastofu, klinikum eða á búgarði. Stundum eru útkall á kvöldin og um helgar. Vinnan getur verið streituvaldandi vegna neyðartilfella og krefst líkamlegrar færni. Hlífðarbúnaður og hreinlæti eru mikilvægir hluta starfsins.

1. Higher education

Higher education in this field typically involves 5-6 years of study at a university, where students learn everything related to animal physiology and treatment. Upon completion of their studies, they receive a veterinary diploma, allowing them to work in clinics, shelters, and other institutions.

It is recommended to choose a path with higher education or to take courses, as this provides more knowledge and skills and opens up more opportunities for career growth. However, if you want to start working sooner, an internship can be a good starting point.
