Come diventare un saldatore

La saldatura è un mestiere basato sulle certificazioni: ai datori di lavoro interessa soprattutto su quali procedimenti (elettrodo, MIG/MAG, TIG) e materiali sei qualificato, più di dove ti sei formato. La via abituale è l'Istruzione e Formazione Professionale o l'apprendistato, più il patentino di saldatura secondo le norme di riferimento (UNI EN ISO 9606), da rinnovare periodicamente.

1. Apprendistato o percorso di formazione professionale

Un percorso di Istruzione e Formazione Professionale (IeFP) o un apprendistato come operatore meccanico e di saldatura ti danno le basi del lavoro sui metalli — lettura del disegno, aggiustaggio, carpenteria — oltre alla saldatura. È retribuito, dura in genere dai due ai quattro anni e porta a una qualifica riconosciuta più i primi patentini di saldatura.

2. Patentino di saldatura (UNI EN ISO 9606)

La via più diretta per gli adulti: poche settimane per ogni esame di patentino presso un centro accreditato, spesso finanziato dal datore di lavoro. Ogni patentino è specifico per procedimento, materiale e spessore e va rinnovato ogni uno-tre anni per restare valido.

3. Coordinatore o ispettore di saldatura

Per i ruoli di supervisione di strutture saldate o attrezzature in pressione, la qualifica di coordinatore di saldatura (secondo la norma ISO 14731) o di ispettore di saldatura è lo standard. Di solito si consegue part-time sopra l'esperienza di mestiere o tecnica e apre al controllo qualità e ai ruoli di responsabilità.

Componi i tuoi patentini in modo strategico: un patentino TIG su acciaio inox o alluminio è pagato molto più di un MIG/MAG standard su acciaio al carbonio, e si ottiene in poche settimane quando la tecnica è solida. Pianifica di rinnovare il patentino ogni uno-tre anni per mantenerlo valido.
